Firstly: WATER! When training your body loses fluids, it is important to drink plenty of water to replace those lost fluids, so always bring at least 2 litres of water with you to drink during your lessons. Fizzy drinks will not be allowed in the lesson. You may bring 'still' drinks such as Lucozade sport or any other 'Isotonic' liquid. Food is not allowed either, nor should you chew gum or eat sweets.
Secondly: Medical problems: Please tell your instructor if you have any medical issue that may affect your training, such as Asthma, or if you have ever broken a bone in the past etc. It is important that you reveal any relevent injury disease or illness. Jewellery should also be removed or covered to prevent injuries.
Karate: You may start by wearing a Tee shirt & shorts/tracksuit bottoms. Your first lesson will be free but after 4 lessons you MUST purchase a licence (£10, renewable annually) and a 'gi' (karate suit). Suits are available through the club at a greatly discounted rate or you may purchase your own. We do NOT charge membership or joining fees. A minimum lesson requirement is needed to 'grade' on each belt. We hold regular 'planned' gradings which are available on the members calendar for you to view. MMA/Muay Thai Kick Boxing. Over 14's only. You may wear Tee shirts and shorts. 'Shinsei' tee shirts are available if required and we can also supply Thai/MMA shorts too. It's a hard hour and a half of techniques on the pads with including self defence .
Brazilian Ju Jitsu. Over 14's only. Good quality shorts and tee shirts required. This is a physically demanding lesson and you will be working on the floor. Chokes, locks, throws etc are taught at this session, lasting for 3 hours. It will be held once a month initially. You may purchase your own shorts or we can order BJJ/MMA shorts and equipment if you wish from our own supplier. This is a 'No Gi' lesson, so you will only need MMA/shorts and a tee shirt.
